US employment: ADP’s employment report for July, which will provide labour market insights ahead of the release of official government figures on Friday, is due this morning. Private payrolls are expected to have added 145,000 jobs, more than the 122,000 in June. Separately, new applications for unemployment aid are forecast to have fallen to 230,000 in the week ended August 31, compared with 231,000 claims in the week prior.
ISM services: Economists expect activity in the US services sector to have remained in expansionary territory, at an August reading of 51.1 compared with 51.4 in July. A reading below 50 indicates a contraction.
Broadcom: Investors will be keen to hear whether the semiconductor designer has made any progress in its talks with OpenAI about developing a new chip, when it reports third-quarter results after market close. The Palo Alto-based company is expected to post a 46 per cent increase in revenue compared with the same period last year, to $13bn.
Donald Trump: The former president and Republican presidential candidate will deliver remarks at an event hosted by the Economic Club of New York.
