The US has struck Isis camps and militants in Syria, as Washington tries to prevent the terrorist group from rebuilding in the country after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
The US’s precision air strikes, which were conducted in former regime and Russian-controlled areas of Syria, killed 12 Isis terrorists, US Central Command said on Monday.
There is an ongoing US mission “to disrupt, degrade, and defeat Isis preventing the terrorist group from conducting external operations and to ensure that Isis does not seek opportunities to reconstitute in central Syria”, Centcom said.
Washington and its regional partners will not let Isis “take advantage of the current situation in Syria”, said Gen Michael Erik Kurilla.
