Rumours surrounding Manchester United’s managerial situation have intensified after journalist Christian Falk’s recent revelations on the Bayern Insider podcast.
According to Falk, former Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has been a candidate for the United job, and the club might have pursued him if not for Erik ten Hag’s last-minute FA Cup victory.
Falk revealed that Tuchel has been on United’s radar for some time, and discussions have already been held between the German manager and United executives.
He noted that United were close to making a change, but Ten Hag’s trophy win provided a lifeline, halting further developments.
“They held on to Erik ten Hag because they said he’s won a title.”
However, Tuchel’s ties to the Premier League remain strong.
The German still receives compensation from Bayern, making a move potentially more viable.
Falk hinted at ongoing conversations behind the scenes, with Tuchel reportedly keen to take up the United role if the opportunity arises.
The situation remains delicate. United are yet to decide on Ten Hag’s future, but with results still inconsistent, Falk suggests that the club could revisit Tuchel if things don’t improve.
“If it doesn’t work out, Thomas Tuchel is certainly one of the top candidates to succeed him.”
Ten Hag’s position will be closely monitored as the season progresses, with Tuchel lurking as a potential successor.
This managerial situation could be one to watch as United search for stability.
