Manchester United have reportedly reached a deal with Sporting Lisbon over the release of Ruben Amorim, with the Portuguese manager’s starting date at Old Trafford revealed.
This morning, The Peoples Person relayed that Man United agreed to pay Sporting €12 million in order to secure Amorim’s move.
Although the Sporting manager’s release clause was allegedly just €10 million, the extra funding is believed to “cover the release of Amorim’s backroom staff to work alongside him at Old Trafford.”
Now, the exact details of the deal between United and Sporting have come to light.
The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell reported on X that United and Sporting have concluded the deal for Amorim, also revealing that his start date at his new job has been set.
“#MUFC agree deal with Sporting for release of Ruben Amorim. Start date set for international break, with fee of €11m,” Whitwell posted.
“Sporting wanted Amorim to stay for games v Man City + Braga. United satisfied. Amorim expected to be in charge vs Ipswich on Nov 24.”

This update comes after a video surfaced online of Sir Dave Brailsford seemingly confirming to fans that a deal for Amorim has been sealed.
It was also reported that Amorim is set to bring his own coaching staff to Old Trafford, meaning that the reported €11 million fee could make sense given that more money may have been paid to secure their arrival as well.
Still, the Portuguese manager may be open to keeping some current staff members as well, which would be a relief to interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Having led United to an emphatic 5-2 win over Leicester City last night in his first game in charge, the United legend is keen on remaining at the club even if not in his new interim role.
“Now, in this role, I’m helping as long as needed. In the future, in any capacity, I’m here to help the club further to build towards the future that’s what I’m here for, Van Nistelrooy confirmed.
“I’m here to help and serve and give my everything for the club in any capacity, with so many people here around me that want the best for the club and that will never change.”
Van Nistelrooy currently has an important role to play, tasked with building some stability before United’s new exciting manager arrives ahead of the Ipswich clash.
