BERLIN — A hereditary prince and alleged ringleader of a plot to violently overthrow the German authorities went on trial alongside eight different suspects in Frankfurt on Tuesday. Heinrich XIII, Prince of Reuss, and his alleged co-conspirators are charged with preparation of a treasonous act and membership in or help of a terrorist group. Though such a coup was unlikely to succeed, German authorities assessed that the plotters have been superior sufficient of their planning, and sufficiently well-funded and armed, to pose a professional menace of terrorism.
