Crystal Lake Recreation Space, a tenting vacation spot within the San Gabriel Mountains, will probably be closed April 9-14 whereas timber are sprayed with a pesticide to guard them from the Western pine beetle, forest officers introduced Sunday.
Crews plan to spray ponderosa, Jeffrey/ponderosa hybrids and Coulter pines with bifenthrin, officers stated. The timber will probably be sprayed from the bottom as much as 45 ft, officers stated.
Pine beetle infestations have elevated considerably because the local weather has modified. The bugs thrive in heat situations, resulting in higher destruction of timber. An infestation can kill as much as 200 timber at a time.
