Visitors was shut down and a SWAT staff was despatched to Glendale on Monday morning after a Metro bus driver discovered a sleeping passenger with a gun.
Bus drivers have been altering shifts at San Fernando and West Los Feliz roads about 9:44 a.m. when considered one of them “noticed a gun in a sleeping passenger’s waist band” and notified regulation enforcement, Metro officers mentioned. Glendale police arrived inside minutes and escorted different passengers off the bus whereas Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies took the armed passenger into custody, mentioned Sgt. Vahe Abramyan, a public data officer on the Glendale Police Division.
The intersection was reopened by midday.
In a press release thanking the bus driver, Metro reminded the general public that its insurance policies “strictly prohibit carrying harmful weapons on the Metro system, whether or not hid or seen.”
This isn’t the primary time police have been referred to as to reply to a report of a sleeping Metro passenger carrying a gun. Final 12 months, LAPD used its controversial robotic canine to speak with a passenger who had dozed off with a suspected firearm. In that case, it turned out to be a BB gun.
