The representatives of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford reportedly jetted to Italy on Tuesday to hold talks with AC Milan over a sensational January loan move.
Rashford has made it clear he feels ready for a new challenge having struggled over the last two-and-a-half seasons.
United are also believed to be open to hearing offers for the player, who has fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim.
Amorim exiled him from four consecutive matchday squads due to “training and selection reasons.” He was reinstated for last week’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle but remained an unused substitute. Rashford missed Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool due to illness.
A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that AC Milan are interested in completing a loan deal for Rashford this month.
Milan have endured a difficult season but are recovering under new boss Sérgio Conceição. The Portuguese coach led the side to a Supercoppa Italiana final victory over rivals Inter Milan on Monday night in Saudi Arabia.
It’s understood that Rashford is eager to remain in Europe, having turned down multiple lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League.
Earlier on Tuesday, David Ornstein revealed that Milan are among a number of top European sides eyeing Rashford.
Now, The Athletic have given an update, indicating that the Rossoneri’s interest in the Carrington is on the brink of materialising.
According to the newspaper, “Marcus Rashford’s representatives have held exploratory talks with AC Milan about loaning the Manchester United forward in the January transfer window.”
“Dwaine Maynard, Rashford’s brother and agent, flew to Milan on Tuesday to hold discussions with recruitment staff at the Serie A side.”
“Talks remain at a preliminary stage as Milan’s senior executive team were returning from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the team fought back from 2-0 down to beat rivals Inter 3-2 in the Italian Super Cup.”
The Athletic note that Rashford would not instantly get into the Milan team amidst competition for places in attacking positions.
Rafael Leao operates from the left, which is Rashford’s preferred role. Tammy Abraham scored the winning goal against Inter, which will undoubtedly bode well for his confidence moving forward. Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic is in terrific form for the club.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio divulges that in the “last few hours”, Milan have “put forward” a “concrete proposal” to secure Rashford’s signature.
The Serie A giants want the United man on an initial loan arrangement, with the option to permanently buy him at the end of the campaign.
It remains to be seen whether this is acceptable for Ruben Amorim’s side, who will undoubtedly demand that a large portion of his hefty £325,000 per week wages are covered.
