Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has claimed he is loving life at Old Trafford under new manager Ruben Amorim.
The Ivorian has been at United since 2020 but had to go out on loan numerous times before finally getting a chance last season.
Nonetheless, he didn’t have the best relationship with previous manager Erik ten Hag, and this resulted in talks over a new contract stalling.
However, since Amorim has come in as manager, Amad has become a regular fixture in United’s line up, having featured in all five of the Portuguese manager’s opening fixtures, including three starts.
Reports seems to suggest that Amad is close to sealing a new deal at United and according to his latest comments, he seems incredibly happy to be at the club.
In an interview with Sky Sport Italia (via The Manchester Evening News) he claimed that he was excited to be learning from the former Sporting Lisbon head coach.
“We try to follow the coach’s philosophy. He speaks to the players; he was a footballer himself, so he understands our feelings, and we are happy to have him.”
“I always try to repay the coach’s trust. We’ve been on good terms since he arrived. He’s always tried to help me, especially because I am playing a new role.”
Amad also explained that whilst his right wing back role is new, he can draw on some similarities to the position he played at Atalanta, echoing comments from fellow former Atalanta player Rasmus Hojlund.
“It’s a position I already covered at Atalanta under Gasperini, but it was more towards the middle. This wing-back position is kind of new to me. I try to do it and the coach is helping me. I am enjoying every moment.”
The Ivory Coast international has also claimed that Amorim is not the only Portuguese member of staff helping him but also lavished praise on the role his captain, Bruno Fernandes, has played in his development.
“He told me some things to improve during games and asked me to be more focused towards the end of the game because that’s when you see the champions.”
The 22 year old also revealed that he feels even more settled at the club due to being able to speak Italian with Fernandes and his new teammate Joshua Zirkzee.
