Manchester United would be open to selling Christian Eriksen in January, as per reports.
Eriksen has endured a tricky season at Old Trafford. The Denmark international started the campaign strongly, having established himself as a regular under Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag valued Eriksen’s calmness in possession and influence in the final third, overlooking new signing Manuel Ugarte in the process. The veteran midfielder impressively managed to score four goals and register three assists across all competitions before Ruben Amorim’s arrival.
Amorim handed the Dane a start in his first game in charge of the Red Devils against Ipswich Town. However, since then, he has preferred to hand minutes to the likes of Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, and even the ageing Casemiro.
Eriksen, meanwhile, has spent most of his time on the bench. He remained an unused substitute in United’s 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
The former Brentford playmaker has entered the final year of his contract at United and multiple reports have suggested he is bound to leave the club as a free agent in the summer.
However, it appears Amorim’s arrival could push him towards the exit door earlier than expected.
Christian Eriksen could leave Manchester United in January
According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, United would be willing to sell the 32-year-old “as early as the winter” transfer window if they receive a “suitable offer” for him.
Considering how light United are in midfield at the moment, it may be a risky move to let Eriksen depart despite his diminishing role under Amorim.

Interestingly, Plettenberg has suggested that the Premier League giants are exploring the possibility of bringing a new midfielder in January by highlighting his earlier report concerning United’s interest in Ederson.
It says that United are willing to strengthen their midfield in January and are monitoring the Atalanta star.
The 25-year-old Brazilian, known for his tenacious style of play and passing range, is highly valued “internally” at United. He is tied to the Serie A outfit until 2027.
