Manchester United have confirmed their 25-man squad for this season’s Europa League competition.
United finished in eighth position in the Premier League last term and as a result, it seemed like they were set to go into the 2024/25 campaign without European football.
However, Erik ten Hag’s men beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley and in the process, booked themselves a slot in the Europa League.
The Europa League draw took place last week, introducing a revamped league table format. United will host Rangers, PAOK, Bodo/Glimt, and FC Twente at home, while their away fixtures will see them face Porto, Fenerbahce, Viktoria Plzen, and FCSB.
On Thursday, United announced their squad for the competition, with Tyrell Malacia one of the surprise inclusions.
Malacia missed the entirety of last season with an injury that required two surgeries. This made him somewhat of a forgotten figure among supporters but it’s encouraging that he has been named as part of the squad, meaning a return to action is not far off.
New summer signings Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte have also been included.
Casemiro also features in the squad despite suggestions of a transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray.
United’s 25-man contingent can be supplemented by a ‘B’ list of academy players including Toby Collyer, Ethan Wheatley, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
UEFA rules state that a player may be registered on List B if they were born on or after 1 January 2003, are club-trained and have been with their current side for a minimum of two years.
Due to this, Harry Amass is on United’s main list as he only joined the Red Devils from Watford in 2023.
