Unlike Glazers’ approach of signing big-name stars, INEOS have made it clear that their goal is to unearth the next gem instead of buying one.
And the club followed Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s words as seen from deals for Leny Yoro for the first team while Sekou Kone, Chido Obi-Martin are examples of signings that will benefit the academy side for now.
Quite a few young stars around the globe keep getting linked with a dream move to Old Trafford and one name that has constantly been mentioned for sometime now is Sverre Halseth Nypan.
The Rosenborg star has been one of the standout stars for the Norwegian club, netting five goals and registering nine assists over the current campaign.
Young starlet being eyed
He also scored another five in the previous season and his form has already earned him a call-up to the Norway U21 squad despite being only 17.
United came face to face with the club in their first game of pre-season which Rosenborg dominated and ended up winning with Erik ten Hag seeing first-hand what the talented Norwegian is capable of.
He can play all across the midfield and even up front if needed and has already expressed his desire to play at the Theatre of Dreams in the future.
Givemesport have claimed that the Red Devils are set to monitor his progress very carefully during the season before proceeding to make an approach next summer.
There is growing confidence that an agreement can be struck with Rosenborg with midfield an area that needs reinforcements ahead of next season keeping in mind this might be Casemiro and Christian Eriksen’s final year in red.
“Manchester United have put plans in place to continue keeping tabs on highly-rated Rosenborg star Sverre Halseth Nypan over the course of the season before potentially presenting the teenager with the chance to complete a move to Old Trafford in 2025, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.
Nypan move on the cards
“According to GMS sources, they already have confidence that he would be keen to complete a switch from Norwegian outfit Rosenborg if the opportunity arises with the 17-year-old previously admitting that it would be ‘a dream come true’ to feature for the Red Devils.
“GMS sources have been informed that Nypan has been on Manchester United’s radar over the past year, coinciding with academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo’s rise, and they are eager to continue monitoring his progress after he has become one of the first names on the team sheet for Rosenborg despite still being in the early stages of his career.”
The youngster’s current deal is until 2026 and potentially, United could land him on the cheap next summer with his current value at €9 million as per Transfermarkt.
Arsenal are also reportedly in the race and INEOS will need to act decisively to keep their brilliant track record in the market intact.
