Manchester United are reportedly eager to accelerate their plans to sign Rosenborg prospect Sverre Nypan, with a potential January deal on the cards.
Nypan has been linked to United for some time now, with the player himself previously admitting that it would be a dream to star for the Red Devils.
It was stated that United were planning to keep tabs on the 17-year-old, with a view to swooping in for him next summer.
Unsurprisingly, Erik ten Hag’s side are not the only party chasing Nypan. Arsenal are believed to be an interested party in the player while a recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen want him and had even gone a step further by sending scouts to monitor him.
Nypan was questioned about scouts from clubs like United and Leverkusen attending his games to observe him, but he expressed that the attention doesn’t faze him, as his primary focus is on regaining full fitness after a recent illness.
GIVEMESPORT have now given an update on United’s pursuit of Nypan and indicated that so impressed are the 20-time English champions with the Rosenborg star, that they’re plotting to secure his services as early as the winter window.
According to the news outlet, “Manchester United could look to broker a deal for Norwegian prodigy Sverre Nypan quicker than originally thought, according to GIVEMESPORT sources – as a potential January deal could be in the offing from new owners INEOS and sporting director Dan Ashworth.”
“GIVEMESPORT sources have suggested that United chiefs are ‘so impressed’ with Nypan, that a deal could be brokered in early 2025 to bring him to the club sooner than anticipated.”
“United are expected to be considering a deal to sign him from Norwegian giants Rosenborg, though they would loan him back out to the Eliteserien outfit to boost his progress by virtue of game time.”
GMS clarify that it’s possible that United will get a transfer for Nypan over the line in January, ahead of his official arrival at Old Trafford next summer.
Nypan is a highly talented and versatile midfielder who has often drawn comparisons to fellow countryman Martin Odegaard and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
The Norway youth international signed his first professional contract with Rosenbor in January 2022. He was 15 at the time.
Since their arrival at the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have emphasised a transfer approach of bringing in young talent who can develop over the years and potentially become world-class, and it seems like Nypan could be the next one through the door.
It’s a completely different blueprint from the club’s previous policy of forking out large sums for ready-made stars already at the peak of their powers.
