Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli has played down suggestions that the Serie A giants are interested in signing Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee in January.
There have been suggestions that Zirkzee could return to Italy’s top flight, just months after he joined United in a deal worth around £36.5m.
Zirkzee enjoyed a fairytale start to life at United, scoring a late winner in United’s Premier League opener against Fulham.
However, since then, he has added just two goals to his tally, both of which came during the 4-0 thumping of Sean Dyche’s Everton earlier this month.
The Netherlands international has mostly struggled to get acclimated to life with the Red Devils, hence rumours linking him with Juventus and Napoli.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Zirkzee wouldn’t be opposed to a reunion with Juventus boss Thiago Motta.
Zirkzee thrived under Motta as the pair helped secure Bologna a Champions League finish for the first time since the 1964/6 season.
However, Motta poured cold water on speculation that Zirkzee could seal a switch to Turin in January.
This stance has now been reiterated by Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Giuntoli told Sky Italia, “We are waiting for Arek Milik. Zirkzee is very talented, but he is part of another team and I cannot say more than that.”
“We are thinking of something very different.”
“Milik is having his recovery process after surgery, we are happy and think he could be back within 15-20 days.”
United are back in action on Sunday against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The match kicks off at 16:30 GMT.
