Germany national team boss Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly open to replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
United officially confirmed the sacking of Ten Hag on Monday morning, following a string of poor performances and results.
The final nail in the coffin was a 2-1 loss to West Ham on Sunday, which almost certainly made Ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford untenable.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will step in on an interim basis while the club searches for a more permanent replacement. Some of the candidates mentioned to be in the running for the hot seat include Thomas Frank, Ruben Amorim, Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter and of course, Nagelsmann.
United have been linked to Nagelsmann at various points of his career but a switch has never materialised.
Earlier today, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Red Devils have reignited their interest in the former Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig gaffer and are keen to try and secure his services.
talkSPORT have given an update and indicated that Nagelsmann wants the job.
According to the news outlet, “Julian Nagelsmann is open to replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.”
“The Red Devils have shown some recent interest in the Germany manager and he is believed to be keen on a return to club football.”
“Nagelsmann is one of multiple potential replacements, with the list including at least one manager currently employed by another club.”
After his harsh dismissal by Bayern in 2023, Nagelsmann drifted to the international stage, where he took charge of the German national team.
He has somewhat revived Die Mannschaft’s fortunes, transforming them back into a competitive outfit. Few United fans would dismiss the prospect of Nagelsmann leading the club.
