A brush fireplace broke out at Talbert Regional Park in Costa Mesa on Sunday afternoon, charring about eight acres and prompting a voluntary evacuation order due to heavy smoke, officers stated.
Two minors have been injured though not significantly, stated Costa Mesa Fireplace and Rescue Battalion Chief Chris Coates. Particulars on the hearth on the Orange County park, within the 1200 block of Victoria Road, weren’t obtainable.
No constructions have been broken, however authorities suggested residents of Swan Drive to evacuate and instructed that others close by stay indoors because of the smoke, Coates stated. Balearic Neighborhood Middle, at 1975 Balearic Drive, was designated as an evacuation heart.
“We’re not forcing anybody to depart at this level,” Coates stated. “We’re making good headway on the hearth.”
Three water-dropping helicopters buzzed over the flames. The firefight was joined by three different Orange County fireplace
departments.
The blaze started about 1 p.m., Coates stated. The trigger was unknown.
