FC Barcelona and Juventus are reportedly emerging as two potential destinations for Alejandro Garnacho should he leave Manchester United.
The Argentine was one of United’s most vital players last season, scoring ten goals in all competitions, including netting the opener in the final of last season’s FA Cup final.
Garnacho has continued his fine form so far this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in ten games.
Nonetheless, despite featuring regularly, he has had to make do with numerous appearances off the bench.
Despite his 10 appearances this year, only four have come as a starter, and he has only played the full 90 minutes on two occasions, against Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.
This has led to speculation that Garnacho’s future may lie away from United with a move to Real Madrid frequently touted in the press.
The Sun reports though that “two of Europe’s biggest clubs are monitoring Alejandro Garnacho as his frustrating start to the season continues”, but neither is the current reigning European champions.
It is reported that Garnacho’s lack of regular gametime has “put Barcelona and Juventus on red alert” as they plot a move for the electric winger.
The English paper goes on to state that both European giants could be willing “to try to tempt United with a massive bid in the summer.”
“United are believed to value the player – who is a huge favourite with fans – at £50m.”
Despite regular starts last season, there have been hints that Garnacho and Ten Hag do not enjoy the best relationship in the world despite his emergence under the former Ajax coach in 2022.
When the player was subbed off away to Bournemouth last April, he liked a social media post criticising the tactical decision. This irked the manager, who publicly condemned the Argentine’s actions.
With Ten Hag’s position hanging by a thread and an upcoming trip to an Aston Villa side dripping with confidence after defeating Bayern Munich in the Champions League, perhaps his relationship with Ten Hag will have little say on his United future after the international break.
