Manchester United fullback Noussair Mazraoui has successfully undergone a “minor precautionary corrective procedure” and is expected to be available for selection within the next few weeks, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian transfer guru reveals Mazraoui was experiencing heart palpitations – which is described as a “relatively common condition” – and it’s expected the Moroccan international will “make a full recovery”.
Romano believes Mazraoui will be “available” to play for the Red Devils “within the next few weeks”, though this does suggest the possibility he may not be fit in time for the next Premier League match against Brentford on October 19.

Tweet – “Man Utd fullback Noussair Mazraoui has successfully undergone a minor precautionary corrective procedure after experiencing palpitations. This is a relatively common condition as he’s expected to make a full recovery and be available for selection within the next few weeks.”
Mazraoui was withdrawn at half-time during last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Aston Villa, replaced by Victor Lindelof at right-back. After the match, Erik ten Hag confirmed the switch was a forced one, but did not specify the exact nature of Mazraoui’s issue.
The 26-year-old had been expected to join up with the Moroccan international team for their double header against the Central African Republic in the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations. However, he was forced to withdraw from the squad on Monday and replaced by Youssed Belemmari.
And this series of precautionary decisions appear to have been the correct ones based on Romano’s update today.
Mazraoui has been a rare bright spot for United this season following his move from Bayern Munich in the summer. The Moroccan swapped Bavaria for Manchester, along with fellow defender Matthijs de Ligt, to reunite with Ten Hag following their shared times together at Ajax.
The 26-year-old was thrust immediately into the starting eleven, owing to the continued injury problems of both of United’s senior left-backs – Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Their absences forced Ten Hag to field first-choice right-back, Diogo Dalot, on the opposite flank, with Mazraoui taking the Portuguese international’s place; to great effect.
Having effectively replaced Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s place in the squad, following the fullback’s move to West Ham in the summer, Mazraoui’s combination of technical quality and physicality has proved successful at his new club. He’s one of the only players who can hold their head high amid United’s abject start to the season.
Which is why it would prove such a blow for the Moroccan to be ruled out for any period of time, given his performances over the past two months and the continued lack of depth at fullback. However, the fact his surgery was a success and he’s expected to make a full recovery is absolutely a cause for celebration.
