Erik ten Hag is expecting to stay on as Manchester United manager following a seven-hour meeting of Ineos executives yesterday.
This is according to The Mirror’s David McDonnell, who posted on X:
“Erik ten Hag convinced he’s STAYING as Man Utd manager after seven-hour meeting of club’s board.
“Ten Hag is planning to return from holiday early next week to start planning for the clash with Brentford next Saturday.”

The football world has been watching for news emerging from the meeting, which most assumed would be where Ten Hag’s fate would be decided after another dismal start to a season.
United are lying in a lowly 14th place in the Premier League and Ten Hag has beaten his own record – set last season – for the worst start in the club’s history.
Whilst the London pow-wow was a regular scheduled meeting of United executives, Ten Hag’s future will surely have been on the agenda, with many expecting him to be axed.
And while that may still be the case, McDonnell’s sources are suggesting that the beleaguered Dutchman has survived the threat.
“Sources have said it is ‘business as usual’ at United in the wake of yesterday’s board meeting, which would seem to indicate Ten Hag has been given a stay of execution by his bosses,” McDonnell writes.
“But the 54-year-old understands results and performances must improve, with immediate effect, if he is to maintain the support of those above him, who have publicly backed him, despite United’s worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign.
“While United are keeping tight-lipped about any decisions reached at the meeting, the absence of a statement on Ten Hag’s future, suggests he will remain in charge for the foreseeable future.”
Ten Hag is currently on holiday as his side are not in action until a week on Saturday due to an international break.
He will be hoping that The Mirror’s source is correct and that his injury-ravaged squad can use the fortnight’s break to recover and return to fitness to help him battle for his job.
