Donald Trump has been present in contempt of courtroom and fined $9,000 for repeatedly attacking potential witnesses and jurors in his Manhattan “hush cash” case, violating a gag order imposed on the previous president in his first felony trial.
Justice Juan Merchan on Tuesday dominated 9 statements made on social media and elsewhere by Trump had violated the order, and imposed a penalty of $1,000 per violation.
Trump had assailed his former fixer Michael Cohen and porn actor Stormy Daniels on his Reality Social web site, calling them “sleaze luggage” and calling their credibility into query. Each are anticipated to be key witnesses on the ongoing trial.
