Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have joined the hotly-contested race for Barcelona star and reported Manchester United midfield target Dani Olmo amid unresolved concerns over his registration status.
Olmo was linked to United in the summer but a move never materialised. Following a sensational Euro 2024 campaign in which he was one of Spain’s outstanding performers, he sealed a £50million move to Barcelona.
However, the Blaigrana could only register him on a temporary basis until the end of the calendar year, owing to La Liga’s financial constraints.
If Spain’s football authorities continue to block Olmo’s registration for the second part of the 2024/25 season, the player can leave and join a new club as a free agent. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Barca’s fresh bid to register Olmo was rejected by a commercial court.
Olmos agent – Andy Bara – was in Manchester a few days ago to explore potential transfer destinations for his client.
In addition to United, Manchester City and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old.
Now, Spanish outlet SPORT have revealed that Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on him and are “rubbing their hands together” over his situation at Camp Nou.
SPORT say about the United target, “Although the club [Barcelona] will seek to appeal to a higher court and exhaust all possible legal avenues, time is against them, and the chances of resolving this case in a favourable way are dwindling.”
“Meanwhile, in Paris they are keeping a close eye on what is happening.”
“Although no formal move has been made by PSG , there is a sense of expectation in the Parisian team’s entourage given the growing uncertainty at Barça, a context that could open up opportunities in the market if the situation is not resolved.”
PSG boss Luis Enrique is said to be “in love” with Olmo. Enrique also enjoys the advantage of having worked with Olmo before in the Spain national team set-up.
United are back in action later tonight when they host Eddie Howe’s Newcastle at Old Trafford.
