Charlotte FC and USYNT wonderkid Nimfasha Berchimas is reportedly set to train with Manchester United next week, with a possible transfer firmly on the cards.
Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his 27.7% partial investment into the club earlier this year, United have placed greater emphasis on signing young, talented and hungry players who can then be nurtured to potentially become world-class superstars.
Indeed, during the summer window, United secured the services of youngsters like Chido Obi-Martin, Samuel Lusale, Sekou Kone and others, who have all been integrated into the youth ranks at Carrington.
Now, journalist Ben Jacobs reports that United are interested in 16-year-old Berchimas.
According to the reliable Jacobs, “Charlotte FC and U.S. youth international standout forward Nimfasha Berchimas will visit Manchester United next week to train and experience their environment, sources tell GIVEMESPORT.”
“Berchimas, 16, is one of the brightest young talents in his age group in the country and has been turning heads in Europe. United have been following his progress and an official transfer bid could follow in the future, sources say.”
“The trip was planned before Ruben Amorim took over as manager but it was very much driven by new United sporting regime, sources add.”
Jacobs notes that United’s technical director Jason Wilcox is “heavily involved” with the promotion of youngsters from academy level to the first team.
It’s understood that Bayern Munich hosted Berchimas for a training stint in 2022 but a switch to the Allianz Arena never materialised. It’s currently unclear whether the Bavaria outfit are still keen on adding the teenager to their ranks.
A forward by trade, Berchimas primarily plays as a right-footed left-winger. He made his debut for the Charlotte FC senior team in February 2024, becoming the ninth-youngest player in MLS history, during their 1-0 victory over New York City FC.

He has made three first-team appearances in 2024.
Berchimas has already represented the USA at the youth level, notably standing out during the FIFA U17 World Cup.
