A report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that Van Nistelrooy expects to part ways with United once a deal for Amorim officially gets over the line.
However, according to The Dutchman himself, his wish is to remain at the club and serve in any role.
Van Nistelrooy said [via The Mirror] after the final whistle vs. Leicester, “I came here as an assistant to help the club.”
“Now, in this role, I’m helping as long as needed. In the future, in any capacity, I’m here to help the club further to build towards the future that’s what I’m here for.”
“I’m here to help and serve and give my everything for the club in any capacity, with so many people here around me that want the best for the club and that will never change.”
He remarked about the match, “We scored some great goals, the first one was a beauty from Casemiro. I have to also say that we had some luck as well.”
“Two posts and it comes to Casemiro’s feet and Bruno’s free kick is deflected and it’s in, but it’s the first one for him after a long time, so I’m so happy for him that he’s on the scoresheet twice.”
“Five goals, but the chances against West Ham, Fenerbahce and Brentford, we created so many more bigger chances. All of a sudden we had some luck on our side – that made it a great day today.”
Amorim is expected to arrive in England with his own set of assistants but the Portuguese could do with having someone of Van Nistelrooy’s stature by his side.
In addition to already knowing his way around the club and being a fantastic coach, the former striker is also adored by the fans and would really help Amorim in building his relationship with them.
