There is reportedly just one issue standing in the way of Juventus signing Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United in January.
Having just arrived at Man United from Bologna this summer, Zirkzee has struggled to adjust to life at Old Trafford.
In 12 matches in all competitions, Zirkzee has scored only once, on his debut against Fulham.
While he grabbed an assist in last night’s 1-1 draw with Fenerbahçe, he largely struggled in his role as a striker, failing to register even one shot.
Now, it appears as if the Dutch forward is regretting his move to United, with reports claiming that Zirkzee is willing to depart the club in the next transfer window.
Juventus has emerged as a top contender to sign Zirkzee in January, with The Peoples Person relaying that Zirkzee has already given his approval to a transfer to the Serie A club.
Still, it appears as if there is one issue standing in the way of his move to Italy.
“The only possibility for the Bianconeri to make a move in January is for the Red Devils to open up to a loan,” Tuttosport reported.
The article continued, “then taking advantage of Cristiano Giuntoli’s good relationship with agent Kia Joorabchian.” Guintoli, the sporting director of Juventus, has a long-established relationship with Zirkzee’s agent, Joorabchian.
Joorabchian has been known to demand strict transfer conditions, as was evident from the €15m commission he sought when AC Milan came calling for Zirkzee when he was still a Bologna player.
Still, Guintoli’s relationship with Zirkzee’s agent may be enough for him to convince Joorabchian to ease up on his requirements.
With Zirkzee constantly struggling to adapt to his new team and fellow striker Rasmus Hojlund eclipsing him with some impressive recent performances, it appears that the Dutch forward could be running out of time to prove himself as a player who United can rely on going forward. Perhaps a short-term loan would be good for Zirkzee’s development.
