Sometimes truth comes out like a small drip pipe leak releasing droplets on the tongues of esoteric lodge members. Other times it gushes like a water main break, waking up the somnambulant masses with an ice-cold fire hose blast to the face. Henry Ford said, “History is more or less bunk.” Revelations about WW2, Gulf of Tonkin, USS Liberty, and 9/11 proved Ford correct. Second only to Adolf Hitler, Charles Manson played the role of latter 20th Century bogeyman to the collective American psyche. Yet, when the harsh solvent of truth washes over the Manson case file- what remains?
If any watershed event tore America out of the “peace and love” 60s, it was the “Manson Family” murders. Overnight, the gentle flower child hippie transformed into cult leader psycho-killer. The hippies’ “peace and love” message became an object of ridicule.*

Nikolas Schreck wrote a book called The Manson File. Schreck, involved in the music scene at the time, took an interest in demo tapes Manson recorded. Schreck’s initial publication focused on Manson’s music, philosophy, writings, and poetry, and not the Tate house-LaBianca murders.
While working on his book, Schreck interviewed Manson in prison. Though not his original intent, after talking with Manson, Schreck became convinced that the Vincent Bugliosi “Helter Skelter” story sold to the American public was a fabrication. Schreck spent the next 30 years researching Manson’s case. During his investigations, he interviewed Hollywood insiders intimate with Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski as well as those who knew the other Cielo Drive victims, Manson’s circle of associates, retired detectives who worked the case, and people familiar with the LaBiancas. In addition, Schreck visited and communicated with Manson for the remainder of the convict’s life.
Before I lay it out- a disclosure. I only read Schreck’s original edition, which focused on Manson as artist and outlaw philosopher. A later publication explored Manson’s criminal case. My knowledge of the Tate house-LaBianca murders comes from popular culture, Manson interviews/parole hearings, and a Schreck YouTube interview that I’m paraphrasing and summarizing from. I in no way paint myself as a Manson murder case expert. Schreck has given multiple interviews, and I’m drawing from the one I watched.

Manson’s introduction to prison stemmed from no crime. His mother was too poor and in too much trouble with the law to take care of the young boy, so the state locked him up in a juvenile detention facility. Manson went on to spend most of his youth and young adulthood in prison. After his murder conviction, he remained inside for the rest of his life.
Before the Tate house-Labianca murder case, the worst crimes Charles Manson was convicted of were the attempted cashing of a mailbox-swiped few-dollar government check and car theft. Fresh out from prison Manson stole the car to drive his new bride to California.
Manson steadfastly maintained post-murder conviction that he never received a fair trial. While largely hidden by corporate media, a 1974 New York Times article reported on the gross prosecutorial and defense council misconduct.
Schreck states prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi began his famous Helter Skelter book and negotiated with his publisher for book and film rights at the start of the trial, forcing prosecution witnesses to testify to his book/film script. The judge also prevented Manson from calling defense witnesses and Manson’s legal council was woefully inept and corrupt. When Manson objected to the kangaroo court proceedings, he was bound and gagged or taken to the back of the courthouse and beaten by bailiffs.
Helter Skelter, a Beatles song, was not code for mass murder revolution, but rather the name of a music jam clubhouse where Manson and other musicians played for small audiences of hippie chicks and assorted throwaways.
Richard Nixon declared Manson guilty before the jury verdict, a weird move for a sitting President. As confirmed by the Nixon tapes, Nixon made his public declaration of Manson’s guilt at the behest of a powerful Hollywood mogul donor connected to the LA Jewish mafia. The Hollywood mogul wanted a fast-track conviction because the Tate-Polanski home hosted Hollywood A-list celebrity sex and drug orgies, some filmed. The mogul feared a serious “Hollywood Confidential” data breach if Manson received a fair trial.
Manson presciently stated that if the government violated his Constitutional rights, the day would come when no American could get a fair trial. Our current crooked lawfare political hit squad justice system run by the likes of thug enforcer A.G. Merrick Garland confirms Manson’s prediction.
Far from being a case of hippie cult leader guiding followers on a drug-crazed kill spree, Schreck maintains that the Tate house and LaBianca murders were cold transactional crimes. He also rejects the theory that Charles Manson was CIA or a fed. After watching Manson interviews, I agree. Manson was not CIA. At least that’s my read.
I don’t doubt that Operation Mockingbird-MKUltra era CIA transmogrified an organic event to hasten the demise of the Vietnam anti-war movement. As admitted by Nixon aide John Ehrlichman, the motivation behind Nixon’s war on drugs was the takedown of anti-war hippies and Black revolutionaries.
While the media portrayed Manson as a Satanist, in interviews, he identified as Christian. With his forehead swastika, he made the perfect unsympathetic one-dimensional villain. For millennia, cultures and religions from all over the world have used the swastika symbol. Depending on usage, the swastika can represent- ‘action through action,’ the cosmic wheel/cycle, all is all, etc.
To the serious individual, the choice of representative symbol (or patch) represents a major life decision. Whether Manson, Hitler, Shaolin monk, Native Red medicine man, ashram guru, or prison shot-caller, the man who picks up the swastika of his own volition is serious. (I’m excluding the millions and millions of 1930s-40s Germans who wore swastika pins. Like Osama bin Laden said- “People go with the strong horse.”)
THE PAYBACK MURDERS
Voytek Frykowski stayed at Sharon Tate’s house with his girlfriend, coffee heiress Abigail Folger. Frykowski was friends with Tate’s husband, director Roman Polanski, and also dealt drugs from the home. Frykowski burned Charles (Tex) Watson on a drug deal. Watson, like Manson, often hung out at Spahn Ranch. Watson asked Manson how to handle the burn. I’m paraphrasing from memory, but Manson basically said- If you’re going to make a statement, make it big. Watson and his psycho hippie chick associates made a big statement.
Frykowski was the target. The other victims fell into the unfortunate potential witness category. Schreck maintains that the actual psychopathic killer mental-manipulator at Spahn Ranch was Charles (Tex) Watson. Manson’s only involvement in the Tate house murders was his statement to Watson and helping Watson and the psycho hippie chicks dispose of evidence after the fact.
Conversely, Manson was the mastermind behind the LaBianca murders, although he didn’t physically kill the couple.
Many dismiss Manson as a talentless wannabe rock star. In reality, Manson was working on an album with record producer Terry Melcher. When Manson became too difficult to work with, Melcher dropped him. Manson also hung out with Beach Boy Dennis Wilson and wrote a song for a Beach Boys album. Manson was promised $5000 for his song, but when he went to the publishing house office to collect, they threw him out. Manson sought revenge for the burn.
According to Schreck, the supermarkets that the LaBiancas ran were money-laundering fronts for organized crime, as both husband and wife were mafia associates. In the 1960s, the mafia was involved in the music industry, hence Leno LaBianca’s connection to the publishing company that ripped off Manson.
While I in no way condone the LaBianca murders, if Schreck’s account is true, Manson, who’d spent most of his life in the penitentiary, acted in accordance with convict code. Under convict code, if a prison organization rips you off, you are allowed to take revenge on a member of that organization- especially a prominent member. Manson recruited Watson and the psycho hippie chicks for the job, as they demonstrated a knack for making “big statements.”
On Manson’s music- I think with Phil Spector “Wall of Sound” production and a couple of Ronettes backup singers, Manson could have easily sailed to 1960s Top-40 land.

While the literal definition denotes someone who copulates with his mother, its alternate common-use application means “person” or “individual.” A descriptor placed in front of motherf*cker defines the individual, e.g., “groovy motherf*cker,” shady motherf*cker, smart motherf*cker, scary motherf*cker.
