Manchester United’s transfer business revolved mainly around improving the backline after the club conceded a record 85 goals in all competitions in the previous campaign.
After failing in their efforts to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, the Red Devils focussed their attention on trying to sign French wonderkid Leny Yoro.
Real Madrid were ahead of the 20-time English league champions in the race with the centre-back said to be keen to join the Los Blancos.
However, with Lille trying to recoup a fee, INEOS played their cards right and gazumped the Spanish giants with fans excited to watch the 18-year-old in action.
Yoro’s United career did not start in the best possible manner
After only one session, the Frenchman was thrust into action during the club’s pre-season tour, making his unofficial debut against Rangers.
He impressed and his presence in the backline meant the team from Old Trafford played a high defensive line, something manager Erik ten Hag wanted from his team in the last campaign but injuries meant that plan did not work out in the end.
However, he suffered a fractured metatarsal in the following game against Arsenal and was forced to undergo surgery which was supposed to keep him out until the New Year.
However, he was spotted recently walking without the help of crutches and Givemesport have now revealed that the France U23 international has told his friends that he is targeting a return to the first team ahead of United’s blockbuster clash against fierce rivals Arsenal on December 3.
Interestingly, there are even murmurs of a return before that and with the three-time Champions League winners set to play seven games between November 24 and December 14, he could play a key part during that congested run of fixtures.
“Manchester United star Leny Yoro has stepped up his recovery from injury and pinpointed the Premier League encounter with title-chasers Arsenal on December 3 as a target to make his long-awaited competitive debut following a summer switch to Old Trafford, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.
Return date fixed
“GMS sources have been informed that Yoro was given assurances that he would be in line for regular action when he joined Manchester United, meaning he is poised to battle with the likes of fellow summer recruit Matthijs de Ligt for a starting berth, and a return in November is also possible.”
The report also mentioned that Ten Hag wants to avoid having to rush the former Lille star back into action after the club’s botched rehabilitation plans for Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Luke Shaw last time out.
Fans will be excited to learn of this development but Yoro needs to focus on getting himself fully fit and the club need to give him time to recover and not rush him back.
The club have heeded calls to monitor Kobbie Mainoo’s workload and even Rasmus Hojlund’s return to action has been way better handled this season.
