Los Angeles, Dec. 27, 2023 – Actor and comedian Kevin Hart has filed a lawsuit against his former assistant Miesha Shakes and YouTuber Tasha K, also known as Latasha Kebe, along with Kebe’s company, Kebe Studios LLC. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges defamation, civil extortion, breach of contract, and invasion of privacy.
The legal action comes in response to a recent tell-all interview conducted by Shakes with Tasha K, where Shakes made several damaging allegations against Hart. Among the claims were accusations of infidelity, fathering a child outside of his marriage, and having a significant gambling problem.
According to court documents, Shakes was employed by Hart’s company, K. Hart Enterprises Inc., from 2017 to 2020, during which time she served as his personal assistant. The lawsuit contends that Shakes violated a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) signed in 2022 by disclosing confidential information during the interview.
Hart’s legal team asserts that Tasha K and Kebe Studios LLC engaged in extortion by threatening to release the interview unless Hart paid a ransom of $250,000. Despite a cease-and-desist letter from Hart’s attorney, the interview was ultimately published on Tasha K’s subscription website on December 22.
In addition to seeking general and compensatory damages, Hart’s lawsuit aims to recover legal fees incurred as a result of the alleged defamation and extortion. Representatives for Hart, Tasha K, and Kebe Studios LLC have not yet responded to requests for comment.
Tasha K, known for previous legal disputes over her interviews, including a defamation lawsuit by Cardi B that resulted in substantial damages, faces renewed legal challenges with Hart’s lawsuit. The outcome of this case could further impact the boundaries of celebrity privacy and media responsibility in the digital age.
