Manchester United’s dismal 0-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday was once again a reminder of how fragile the team’s midfield remains despite last season’s horror shows.
Manuel Ugarte was signed late on in the window and is expected to replace Casemiro, who struggled big time against the Merseysiders. But Erik ten Hag has already suggested that the Uruguayan might not be fit enough to start games.
Even in an attacking sense, following Mason Mount’s injury, United’s options are quite limited. Christian Eriksen’s minutes have drastically reduced while Bruno Fernandes looks like he needs more support.
United have the option of adding a versatile option in the form of free agent Yusuf Yazici who left Lille upon the expiry of his contract in June.
Yazici offered to United
The Turk can play out wide on either flank and even upfront as well, netting 12 times last season while registering four assists as well.
His agent has been offering his services to several elite clubs all across Europe according to HITC Football and that list includes United as well.
He’s only 27, which makes him one of the youngest free agents out there in the market and he still has enormous ability as seen from his double digit goals in two out of the last four seasons.
Goals are severely lacking in United’s midfield and a versatile option who can play upfront could plug multiple gaps in the team.
“Free-agent Turkey international Yusuf Yazici has been offered to a host of Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle and Aston Villa.
“Galatasaray are leading the chase, looking to bring the 45-cap Turkey international back home. Former Lille boss Paulo Fonseca would jump at the chance to work alongside Yazici again at AC Milan, with Serie A rivals Lazio also in the mix.
Lots of clubs in the fray
“HITC can confirm that a host of Premier League clubs have been made approached too. Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle are among them. As are Wolves, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham. HITC have been told that the Red Devils would have to move Christian Eriksen out the door first, however.”
Former Arsenal and Real Madrid superstar Mesut Ozil had labelled Yazici as an “incredible” talent and claimed he had similar characteristics as him.
“Yusuf Yazici is an amazing No 10. We have a lot of similarities; his left foot, his position, his passing, and calmness on the ball. We will see Yusuf at a big European club in the near future,” he was quoted as saying a few years ago.
Maybe the Turkiye international’s time could come now but with Eriksen unlikely to leave, a move to Old Trafford looks unlikely at present.
