Israeli troops tied a wounded Palestinian to the highest of a army car on Saturday morning throughout an operation within the occupied West Financial institution, a scene that was captured on video and rapidly went viral, prompting outrage.
The Israeli army stated that the act violated army process and that there could be an investigation.
Israeli troopers raided Wadi Burqin, a Palestinian city on the outskirts of the West Financial institution metropolis of Jenin, on Saturday morning to arrest Palestinians suspected of involvement in militant teams. Jenin, a longtime stronghold for loosely organized armed teams, has skilled repeated crackdowns by the Israeli army over the previous few months.
A firefight broke out between Palestinian militants and Israeli troopers, the army stated. Israeli troops arrested a Palestinian injured within the taking pictures.
“In violation of orders and normal working procedures, the suspect was taken by the forces whereas tied on high of a car,” the Israeli army stated, including that such conduct “doesn’t conform to the values” of its military.
The troops handed over the wounded Palestinian to the Palestinian Purple Crescent for medical care, the Israeli army stated.
The occupied West Financial institution has seen growing violence over the previous eight months after the Hamas-led assault on Oct. 7 and in the course of the subsequent warfare in Gaza. Greater than 500 Palestinians and 12 Israelis have been killed within the territory, in keeping with the United Nations, and hundreds of Palestinians have been arrested in near-nightly Israeli raids.
