Vladimir Putin has changed two of his longest-serving safety officers in a shock reshuffle, suggesting the Russian president is dissatisfied with the dealing with of his two-year invasion of Ukraine.
Putin, who was sworn in for a fifth time period in workplace earlier this week that extends his quarter-century rule till no less than 2030, appointed Sergei Shoigu, the defence minister, to be head of Russia’s safety council on Sunday, based on the higher home of parliament.
Andrei Belousov, a deputy prime minister and longtime financial adviser to Putin, will exchange Shoigu, who had run Russia’s defence ministry since 2012.
Nikolai Patrushev, a hawkish former spy and certainly one of Putin’s closest aides, will take up an unspecified new place after main the safety council since 2008.
